Emma & Shaun - York Maze Yorkshire Wedding | THE MAGIC SEVEN

Today's 'Magic Seven' is Emma and Shaun! These two got married one hot May day at the beautiful and rustic York Maze - a quirky barn venue in North Yorkshire - and had their ceremony in a different barn next door (above); such a beautiful space to tie the knot. They chose York Maze because it's such a relaxed and chilled out venue and they could really personalise and put their own stamp on it.

I love shooting weddings at York Maze because the photo opportunities are so cool and different to anywhere else (I love the abandoned double decker bus for photos!) and the barns are such beautiful spaces, rustic but bright, and ready to add your own touches to. The venue is one I've loved shooting at so much in the past - I hope to be back soon!.

The ceremony was in one barn and the reception in the barn next door; the grounds of York Maze are so much fun, with a play area (which attracted the adults possibly more than the kids..) and a huge trampoline cushion for guests to throw themselves around on in the afternoon.

The most memorable bit about the day was the speeches because they were held outside with guests enjoying the sunshine;  Emma had prepared a surprise speech for Shaun which moved a good few people to tears... They also had an unexpected visitor of a swallow flying around during the ceremony; Emma said she felt like I was in a real life Disney film!

Emma wore the elegant 'Persiphone' by Wtoo and Shaun wore a waistcoat and chinos to match his ushers, and they looked so perfect. They decorated the venue with metallic and bohemian details, which looked so cool in the Maze's rustic setting.

Emma and Shaun say that if you’re planning your wedding, the biggest piece of advice they could give you is "Just try not to stress during the planning and don’t let people try and change your mind, it is a day for the two of you and should be about what is right for you."

Emma and Shaun had been together for ten years when they got engaged in St Ives in Cornwall. They got in touch with me after following my work for a while before they got engaged and their enquiry really excited me - their wedding sounded right up my street! They said they wanted a photographer who would be like a guest, and I loved that they were planning such a chilled out day - I knew from the start we'd be a good fit.

I picked these seven photos for Emma and Shaun's wedding 'Magic Seven' because I wanted to show off the amazing setting for the day and how relaxed these two were with each other - they really knew how to put themselves and their personalities into the wedding. Definitely one to remember!
