June, July + August | BEHIND THE CURTAIN

It’s no wonder that’s it’s taken so long to find the time for another ‘Behind The Curtain’ during the Summer, but better late than never I guess? Summer has gone by in such a wonderful and busy blur that I’ve had to sit and go back through my calendar to help me remember what I actually did and when! Work gets slightly slower-paced from October and I’ll be able to escape from ‘the editing cave’ in time to celebrate my birthday next month, but Summer has been busy and wonderful, and here’s how it looked for me..

The weather was just amazing, wasn’t it? We spent so much time this Summer at home all hanging out in the garden and not particularly doing much on days off. We lived off BBQ food, the paddling pool was out for weeks on end and we got outside as often as we could.

I was excited to shoot one of my oldest friend’s weddings at the end of June, which was really magical. They were joined by their son, Sebastian, and once my kit had been taken home it was amazing to join the celebrations too! I’ve been to so many weddings now but I honestly never tire of being part of days like these, and clocking off and celebrating properly with some of my closest friend was just amazing.

As well as some amazing weddings over the Summer, I also shot family shoots and for No.60 at The Arc in Stockton - it was fab to work on something a bit different during wedding season too (and the food was just to die for..)

I had a rare weekend off in August so decided to make the most of it and I took the girls away camping to Brittany in France for a week. It was magical and I’m really going to try and find time to do something like this each year.. we wandered around French markets, ate amazing food, cycled around the area and hung out on the beaches. I had to work so intensely around the trip but it was 100% worth it.

Vivienne, my eldest, was lucky enough to go on holiday to Mallorca with my side of the family, so Sylvie and I popped over to the Lakes for a few days so I could work and she was pretty safe pottering around a caravan - the Lake District feels like such a haven. and I always feel so calm when we go over there for a few days.

At the end of August I headed over to Italy for Shaunagh and Paolo’s incredible Chiavari wedding on the North West coast. I’m yet to edit any personal photos from the trip (clients’ images come first!) so will be sharing some personal travel photos in the next ‘Behind The Curtain’ as the trip crossed ovr the months anyway. I’m currently working on Shaunagh and Paolo’s images though, and so excited to share more from this day..

September and October are busy with a perfect mix of work and personal things in the calendar. Autumn is my favourite season and October marks my birthday too - I’m excited to celebrate and take some time to collect conkers and do some wonderful seasonal baking and walks in the hills before it gets too cold.

Hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a little more ‘behind the scenes’ and hopefully I won’t leave it quite as long before the next instalment (but also making no promises!) Happy Autumn everyone!
