Anna & Mike | North Yorkshire Tipi Wedding Photography
I do love an outdoor tipi wedding and a beautiful DIY-styled tipi.. Anna and Mike didn’t let typical British Summer rain bother them and celebrated in style, starting with handmade details and styling and ending with enthusiastic (and slightly wild) ceilidh dancing under the stars..
In the early stages, Anna and Mike knew only two things about what they wanted from their outdoor tipi wedding – the location of North Yorkshire (where Anna grew up) and a completely fuss-free and informal approach.
Anna arrived for the ceremony in a vintage 2CV, looking pretty damn wonderful in a simple BHLDN dress. She added embellished flat sandals, a beaded cape and a rustic dried flower crowd. Keeping with tradition, Anna’s ‘something old’ was her granny’s pearl necklace and the ‘something borrowed’ was a lace handkerchief that belonged to Mike’s nanna and which she tied around her pretty pastel bouquet.
Mike chose a good old M&S three piece suit for the day, styled with a self-tie bow tie and a stylish pocket square made from Liberty fabric. He and his groomsmen also had some pretty jazzy socks which they enjoyed showing off together a little later in the day..!
When asked for their favourite memories, Anna says: “It’s definitely true what they say - your wedding goes by in a bit of a blur!
“I'll always remember: running around the tipi at 9.00am throwing our Tunnocks teacakes place-settings into position with my bridesmaids; me and my dad on our own in the house just before heading up to the church and saying why I wasn't nervous because Mike was the right person for me; smiling like a complete moron as I walked down the aisle and seeing him at the end; flinging ourselves around during the Ceilidh; and thinking just how lucky I was to have married such a great man and how lucky we were to have such wonderful family and friends.”
Anna and Mike named their favourite images from the day as the pictures of the two of them in the cornfield, saying, “It’s really meaningful to have wedding pictures in places that I know from my childhood. It's great to have photos of us as a couple that look so good but still feel natural and unstaged.
“We love how our photos focus on capturing all the little moments of the day - we really liked seeing our friends and family enjoying themselves too. When we first spoke with you we said what we were most worried about was being asked to pose like berks for hours on end. This absolutely did not happen, you managed to get great pictures of two camera shy people without us even really noticing it was happening!”
