2016
It's always so hard to know what to write at this point in the year.. it feels like only a few weeks since I sat down to write 2015's end-of-year post.
The year, for me, usually starts slowly and I try and get as organised as possible for the months ahead, then suddenly I blink and I'm in the middle of wedding season. 'Behind the scenes' is a whirlwind of packing my kit bag, editing, emailing, motorway driving, service station stops, diary-checking and Post Office queuing.. This is, of course, peppered with wedding days themselves - a heady mix of happy faces, killer dance moves, rocking bands, stories, surprises, amazing food, different emotions all at once, some utterly fabulous outfits and dozens of completely wonderful couples.. then I blink again and it's the end of the year!
The time passes so quickly that it feels like some sort of dream, so taking the time to go back through all the weddings from the past 12 months always feels really special; I love remembering moments from the images and discovering new favourites I didn't 'see' the first time.
It's interesting to recognise a few little running themes in your work as you go too, I feel that now, more than ever, I'm understanding what my approach actually is.. what really makes me tick. Weddings and photography, for me, are so much more about the people than 'the things'. I'm still a sucker for some beautiful details along the way too, but you'll see much less of these in my 'round up' post this year; being at weddings to capture reactions, emotions, interactions and context just feels so much more real.
So, here are my favourites from 2016 - I do hope you enjoy having a browse through as much as I've loved putting it together.
And here's to a wonderful 2017, I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and a very happy new year!
