A first dance to a brass band in the car park when receptions weren’t allowed // elbow bumps and kisses blown // a wedding planned in three days to get in before November Lockdown 2.0 // face masks for guests hastily made to match outfits // a wedding allowed to have 30 guests with only a day to spare // champagne toasts from a car boot in a lay-by following a ceremony in Tier 3 // sanitiser table favours // would-have-been wedding guests waiting outside ceremonies to show their love from a distance // Zoom and Facebook broadcasts from church..

It’s been love and magic against all odds.

One of my favourite parts of work is creating stop motion films.. they take an absolute age to put together, they involve processing thousands of photos, hours agonising over music choices, fiddling and adjusting and tweaking over and over again.. but when they finally come together it feels like magic - the photographs become alive; it’s a completely different way of reliving the day.

What a couple, what a setting and what a wedding! It was my first time shooting at Wylam Brewery for Ellie and James’ wedding, and it was everything I’d hoped it would be and more. I love how they mixed the industrial setting with incredible wildflowers and other details to reflect their personalities (Ellie’s Mum did the flowers and James’ Mum made the cake!) and the whole thing was a beautiful, chilled out celebration in the August sunshine.

They were lucky enough to have sunshine all day for their Hedsor House wedding, and guests mingled outside playing lawn games, drinking Aperol and taking in the incredible setting for their day.

When Elora and Bobby got in touch they told me they were planning a day that was sure to be full of colour, celebration and chaos.. everything a wedding should be. Well, where do I even begin? Chris and Simone had the most beautiful city centre November wedding in Gateshead and Newcastle and I had the pleasure of being their photographer for the day. Simone and Chris both have a background in Art, and they pulled together artists and friends to help create their vision for the day, from the table decor to Simone's hand-painted leather jacket.
