A first dance to a brass band in the car park when receptions weren’t allowed // elbow bumps and kisses blown // a wedding planned in three days to get in before November Lockdown 2.0 // face masks for guests hastily made to match outfits // a wedding allowed to have 30 guests with only a day to spare // champagne toasts from a car boot in a lay-by following a ceremony in Tier 3 // sanitiser table favours // would-have-been wedding guests waiting outside ceremonies to show their love from a distance // Zoom and Facebook broadcasts from church..

It’s been love and magic against all odds.

I never expected to shoot a first dance in a church car park with a travelling brass band but I guess 2020 is throwing all sort of weird stuff at us and nothing surprises me much these days.. Sophie and Matt married in Nunthorpe with probably the most beautiful views in Teesside. Their Blackthorn Gate wedding is postponed until next year but it didn’t stop them having a perfectly small wedding with their nearest and dearest followed by a distanced dance-off.

It was so good to be back at the beautiful Fig House on the Middleton Lodge estate in North Yorkshire for Ashleigh and Richard’s wedding. These two were joined by their wonderful girl Evangeline, who was a real whirlwind of fun all day and the fact that this day was about the three of them as a family really added something extra-special to the day.

Just look at these colours! Do I need to say much more? Alex and Andrew married at the Fig House on the MIddleton Lodge estate one beautiful September day and it was absolutely stunning. I mean.. that light just speaks for itself, doesn’t it? Rachel and Tom had a beautiful September wedding at Doddington Hall in Lincolnshire. The venue was spectacular - totally stunning - and we were lucky enough to have access to the gardens and that sun set for some photos. The main reception was in the Couch House at Doddington Hall, guests played garden games and relaxed before dancing the night away to their rock wedding band Anthemic. Absolutely wonderful stuff.

Oh Charlotte and André! What a special day it was celebrating your wedding with you.. These two said their vows then headed up into the hill of beautiful North Yorkshire to hold their wedding reception at The Pheasant in Harome, a small village near Helmsley. There was sunshine and showers, incredible floral styling by The Wilde, ridiculously good colours.. What a day Saturday was! It’s been a while since I shot a wedding at Rudby Hall and it was so lovely to be back at this beautiful North Yorkshire venue (it’s also about 20 minutes from home which was a nice change after being all over the place for weddings this year!)

Bethan and Daryll had a beautiful flower-filled day and the sun shone from start to finish.. guests hung out on the grass playing garden games and were serenaded by a steel band - the perfect Summer wedding set up.

What a couple, what a setting and what a wedding! It was my first time shooting at Wylam Brewery for Ellie and James’ wedding, and it was everything I’d hoped it would be and more. I love how they mixed the industrial setting with incredible wildflowers and other details to reflect their personalities (Ellie’s Mum did the flowers and James’ Mum made the cake!) and the whole thing was a beautiful, chilled out celebration in the August sunshine.

Just look at these two! I absolutely adored Mark and Lucy’s wedding style.. they had a tipi wedding in the grounds of the Hammer and Pincers pub in County Durham with gin bottles, mix tapes, custom wedding art and illustrations.. it was so personal and so perfect.

Also Lucy’s wedding outfit - I’ve never seen anything like it (amazing work from BexBrides)! A custom made, feather embellished kimono style dress with tassels and sewn in touches from her Mum’s own wedding veil.. I could have photographed her in it all day.
